Editor’s note: Kim Ewoldsen will direct the activities of two important community organizations.
On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, Jerry Lindsey, President of Morrison Area Development Corporation, announced the hiring of Kimberly ( Kim) Ewoldsen as the new Director of Economic Development. She is the new Chamber of Commerce Director as well.
Ewoldsen joins the MADC effort to assist the Morrison, IL, area in retaining jobs, attracting new businesses, and marketing Morrison’s many attributes. Her education and work experiences combine nicely with her local familiarity to the area, to create a professional that will carry the Morrison message to inquiring ears.
Following her completion of a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, she worked as an intern in Governor Jim Edgar’s office. She joined the Illinois Department of Agriculture in Springfield, IL, as a Senior Policy Advisor and an Agricultural Economic Development Advisor.
In 2008, Ewoldsen returned to her roots as Executive Director of the Sauk Valley Chamber of Commerce in Sterling, IL. She held that position until taking the position as Director of Economic Development for the Morrison Area Development Corporation. During her stint with Sauk Valley, she completed additional education to become a Certified Professional Community and Economic Developer–which is the equivalent of an MBA or CPA of economic development.
As Director, Kim Ewoldsen will coordinate her efforts out of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce office, 221 W. Main Street, while supervising activities of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce.
