Lucille J. Buikema, 87, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA.
Lucille was born December 20, 1927, in Thomson, IL, to Claus and Minnie (Legal) Prins. She was educated in the Thomson Grade School and was a graduate of Thomson High School. Lucille married Robert J. “Bob” Buikema on June 24, 1949, in Fulton. He died December 21, 2010. Lucille was employed by the Burpee Seed Company in Clinton and later worked as a library aide at the Fulton High School, for 19 years before her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. Lucille enjoyed flowers, bird watching, embroidery, crocheting, baking, watching the Cubs, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret (Robert) Norman of Clinton; two grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Green of Morrison, IL, and Nathan Norman of LeClaire, IA; two great-grandchildren, Faith Green and Tyler Green, Morrison; two nieces, Linda (Donald) Brady and Karen (Owen) Bouma; one nephew, Kenneth (Donna) Buikema.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; one daughter, Nancy Buikema; one sister, Dorothy Vogel; one brother-in-law, Gerald Buikema; one nephew, Ronald Buikema.
