Louis A. Akker, 88, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, September 29, 2017, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
Louis was born September 30, 1928, in Morrison, to William and Anna (Dykhuizen) Akker. He was educated in the Whiteside County grade schools and attended Morrison High School in Morrison. Louis married Beverly J. Carley on June 27, 1948, in Morrison. She died February 9, 2011. Louis was engaged in farming his entire life in the Morrison and Chadwick, IL, areas. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and served as elder and deacon. Louis was a faithful visitor and volunteer at area nursing homes.
Survivors include one daughter, Pamela (David) Sikma of Momence, IL; two sons, Steven (Cathy) Akker of Chadwick, and Philip (Debbie) Akker of Morrison; five grandchildren, Benjamin (Sarah) Sikma, Jonathan (Magan) Sikma, Jason (Betsy) Sikma, Joel (Tess) Sikma, and Cara (Eric) Knott; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife; one sister, Eunice Still; one brother, Rev. Levi Akker.
GRAVESIDE COMMITTAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Nephew, Rev. Brian Akker, Pastor of the Christ Family Church, Davenport, IA
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
