Lorraine Workman, 96, of Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Resthave.
Lorraine was born May 3, 1923, in Morrison, to Henry and Cornelia (Dykema) Smith. She was educated in the Cottonwood Grade School of rural Morrison and graduated from Morrison High School. She married Irvin M. Workman on September 15, 1943 in Morrison. He died September 15, 2009. On July 6, 1949, Lorraine and Irvin established Workman Heating and Air Conditioning in Morrison, which later expanded to include plumbing in 1960. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, and served in many of the church’s ministries, including the Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member of the NG (no gossip) Club. Lorraine loved traveling and spending winters in Florida with her husband She enjoyed crocheting and tending her flowers.
Survivors include sons, Jim Workman and Robert (Vicky) Workman, both of Morrison; grandchildren, Jeff (Michele) Workman, Michael Workman, Todd (Pam) Workman, and Tami (Brian) Hedgren; great-grandchildren, Jaeden and Chase Workman, Kyle, Seth, and Malerie Workman, Austin, Eric, and Brea Hedgren; sister, Ruth Adolph.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Irvin; daughter-in-law, Diane Workman; brothers, Robert and Arnold Smith; sister and brother in infancy, Helen and Edward Smith.
Visitation will precede the service, at 9:00 a.m, Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Ken Renkes.
Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, in Morrison, IL.
