Lorna Marie (Voss) Engwall passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024.
Lorna was born on June 13, 1949, in Topponish, WA, to her parents, Floyd Arthur and (Marie) Kathryn Voss. She attended Shirland Grade School (Shirland, IL), Hononegah High School (Rockton, IL,) and Northern Illinois University (Dekalb, IL,) where she majored in Special Education. After many years of teaching Special Education at Bi-County of Whiteside County, Union Grove, and Career Counseling at Whiteside Area Vocational Center, Lorna went back to NIU to get her Master’s Degree in Education Administration. After graduate school, she served as the Principal at Lincoln Elementary (Sterling, IL,) and as Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools for Whiteside County until she retired in 2003. Although Lorna was a lifelong Educator, she was also a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Lorna started dating Paul Duane Engwall in November of 1971, and they were married only months later on April 1, 1972.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Paul; sons, Jonathan Engwall, Ben (Heather Porter) Engwall, and Sam Engwall; sisters, Karen (Larry) Judd (Durand, IL), Brenda (Garrett) Sullivan (Shirland, IL), Virgene McVay (Shirland, IL), Irene Lange (UK); brother, Donnie Voss (Colorado); three granddaughters, Maya, Stella, and Mercedes; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., at Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincoln Way in Morrison, IL, with a luncheon to follow.
An additional Service for family will be held on Sunday, June 23 2024, in Scottville, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to NAMI of the Sauk Valley or Bi-County Education Cooperative.
