Lois was born March 23, 1926, the daughter of George and Emma Bongart of Sterling, IL. At age seven her father passed from appendicitis. Their little family, mother Emma and sister Lilla Jane, moved to the Morrison, IL, farm with her grandparents, Hulda and Henry Rosenow. There, she helped on the farm and took the carriage to the one-room school. Lois was a graduate of Morrison High School, where she was chosen to sing solos in the chorus and excelled in spelling. Lois became a certified Beautician and started working in her Aunt Helen Rosenow’s Salon for many years.
In 1947 she met and married the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Leroy Musselman. Together they built a home in Emerson and raised five children: Diane, Steven, David, Marsha, and Mark. As time passed, Lois also took into their home and cared for her sister. Lilla passed at age 82; mother Emma passed at age 100; uncle Carl Passed passed at age 81.
While caring for her family, Lois would also do volunteer work at school and was a Boy Scout troop leader. She was happiest when she was teaching Sunday school, attending and helping in all of Messiah Lutheran church activities, singing favorite hymns in choir, and during church services.
She was so proud to see all of her children confirmed to the Lutheran faith. Lois was loved by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, along with many neighbors and friends.
She will be welcomed with open arms by her husband of 60 years, Leroy; father; mother; sister; son, David; many loved ones.
