The Morison Mustangs competed in the Manny’s Shoot-out in Mt Carroll on Saturday, January 20, 2013 and couldn’t overcome the second quarter deficit and fell to the Oregon Hawwks 55-40.
The Morrison Mustangs challenged the Prophetstown Prophets throughout, but couldn’t close any closer then four points late in the third quarter in losing 53-42 on Friday , January 18, 2013.
The Kewanee Boilermakers visited the Morrison Mustangs and went home with a 20 point win. A slow start and poor free throw shooting (47%) continued to be a problem for the Mustangs as they concentrate on conference play in January.
Prior to the varsity contest, Amboy’s Tyson Powers was recognized for becoming the seventh all-time scorer in the Clippers history. Following the recognition, he attacked the Mustangs and outscored (26 points) the entire Morrison team in a 35-24 Mustang loss.
A busy week of action at the Cliff Warkins Memorial Tournament at Erie ended with the Morrison Mustangs falling to the West Carroll Thunder 57-48.
The Mercer County Eagles gained a first quarter advantage and extended it each quarter to gain a 48-24 win in the Erie Holiday tourney on Friday, December 28.
