“The Whiteside Forum will be hosting presentations dealing with Mass Media in Modern Society over the next few months,” stated Marc Adami. “How does news, entertainment, and advertising get to you and improve your life, via print, TV, radio, movies, or the internet? How do we influence the media?” he added.
A panel of four presenters begins the new year on Thursday, January 22, 2015, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Program Room of the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL. Their topic is “Mass Media in Modern Society: Local News and Issues.”
On the panel are
- Sam Fisher–Publisher, Sauk Valley Media, and President of the Illinois Press Association
- Tom Shaw–Owner, Shaw Media
- Alan Sivell–former WQAD-TV reporter and current Professor of Communications at St. Ambrose University
- Stephanie Vavra–Owner and Publisher, thecity1.com, Morrison Online.
Each will offer short introductory remarks, and the audience may then pose questions.
Following the theme, future presentations will address “Culture, Bias, and Censorship” (Thursday, February 26) and “National and International News and Issues” (Friday, April 24.)
