Lloyd H. Esse, 87, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Morrison.
Lloyd was born May 15, 1927, in Finlayson, MN, to Theodore and Julia (Berg) Esse. He was a graduate of Finlayson High School and served in the United States Army from 1945-1947. Lloyd married Dorothy Robertson on December 29, 1950, in Morrison. She died December 6, 1972. He then married Margaret Geerts on January 25, 1975, in Morrison. After the war, Lloyd was employed by the Wire Mill in Sterling, IL. From 1951 until 1964 he managed the former Whiteside FS fertilizer plant in Lyndon, IL. He was then promoted to Assistant General Manager of Whiteside FS and moved to the Morrison office. He became the General Manager in 1966, retiring in August of 1988. While he lived in Lyndon, he was a member of Lyndon United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the Lyndon Volunteer Fire Department. After coming to Morrison he became a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. He belonged the Morrison Rotary and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship award. For several years he served as an outside director for Farm Credit. Lloyd was also a member of the Morrison American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; one daughter, Kathryn Murray of Beaufort, SC; two grandchildren, Shannon (Cory) Johnson and Travis (Mary) Murray; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Stone, and Madilyn; Joshua, Alex and Alexis; one brother, Robert (Barb) Esse of Monticello, MN; several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; two brothers, Earl and Richard Esse; one son-in-law, Frank Murray.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Dr. Michael Selburg, Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service, Thursday, January 22, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
