Living Soils and Composting February 12

compostUniversity of Illinois Extension Whiteside County invites you to a Living Soils and Composting Workshop taking place on Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Whiteside Extension Office,100 E. Knox Street, in Morrison, IL.  Presenting at the workshop will be Sharon Hartzold, USDA-NRCS, Area Resource Conservationist, and Alan Dale, Rare Earth.  This session will give you ideas of why, how, and where to get started on the road to conservation planning and soil health.

  • Are you interested in managing the resources on your land but don’t know where to start? 
  • Ever wonder if there is more you can do to protect and improve the environment? 
  • How healthy is your soil?

We will also learn the how’s and why’s of composting, the science of composting, feedstock’s, materials used in the process, composting recipes, the composting process, and monitoring equipment.  Participants will learn trouble shooting techniques, composting quality, the application of composting, important EPA regulations, and potential markets.
