Lions Recycling Day and Free Hearing Screening

Posted by

Morrison Lions Club will participate in the Morrison Recycle Day on Saturday, June 6, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.   The event is located behind KAS Recycling at 649 W. Lincolnway in Morrison, IL.  Items the club recycles are eyeglasses, keys, hearing aids, and cell phones.  Take advantage of this free Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event.

The Morrison Lions Club will sponsor a free hearing screening, which takes only a few minutes and is completely painless.  Note the date on your calendar and plan to attend.  Deafness has no respect of age, wealth, or rank.  It strikes people of all economic, social, and age categories with equal frequency.

The mobile unit helps protect the hearing of the public through an early alert system and increases public awareness, not only of the problems of the deaf, but also the capabilities of the hearing impaired.  Sponsoring the mobile unit in our community is one way of keeping the Lions’ motto “WE SERVE.”   The Lions Clubs of Illinois every year sponsor free hearing screenings for persons 18 and older and ages 10-17 years with written parental consent, in communities all over the State.  Hearing loss is probably the single most common chronic disability in the United States, occurring nearly four times as often as blindness.  Fortunately, many with hearing loss can be helped, either medically or with a hearing aid.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, June 2, at noon at Happy Joe’s, 109 W. Main Street, Morrison.  Aaron Johnson is in charge of the program.  We cordially invite anyone interested in becoming a Lion to visit the club on the first or third Tuesday of the month.   Also visit the club’s website at www.eclubhouse.org/sites/morrisonil to learn more about the Lions Club.
