The month of March is Eye Donor Awareness Month.  The Illinois Eye Bank is a charitable not-for-profit organization and is dedicated for the purpose of sight.  March is a special time to honor eye donors and their families for giving the wonderful gift of sight.  Being an eye donor is crucial and provides research and education, as well as corneal transplants that can help to restore sight for children and adults.  The Illinois Eye Bank recovers, evaluates, stores, and distributes human eye tissue for sight-saving procedures.

Morrison Lions Clubs contributes to the Illinois Eye Bank located in Chicago, IL.  Consider giving the gift of sight.  To learn more about this organization, call them at 800-548-4703 or visit their website at www.illinoiseyebank.org.

KloeppingDistrict Governor Jim Kloepping visited our club for our program meeting on Tuesday, February 3.  He told about his years as a Lion member and about his experiences as Governor.  He believes that service to others is “the price you pay for the space you occupy.”  He shared information on the updated Lions Quest program.  It provides youth development programs in the school and equips educators with good materials that address issues facing our youth today.  He stressed the need for members to become involved in District jobs.

Lions of Illinois Foundation Trustee Dave Waller also visited the club and talked about his duties as a trustee.  He currently is serving on the Alternate Revenue Service.  This involves getting businesses to contribute a percentage of what an individual may spend with the business.  Recently Chili’s had a program where 15% of a purchase was given to Lions of Illinois Foundation for low vision screening.
