This year is the Sesquicentennial anniversary of the death of President Abraham Lincoln, on Saturday, April 15, 1865. Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society will host a program about the 150th anniversary observances of the Lincoln funeral events, which were held in Springfield, IL, earlier this year.
The public is invited to attend on Sunday November 8, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the CGH Medical Center Ryberg Auditorium, 100 E. LeFevre Road, Sterling, IL. From the main entrance lobby, turn left and proceed to the first hall on the left. The auditorium is at the end of the hall.
Presenters will be Ted and Mary Tedrick, who participated with other Civil War historical reenactors in these observances in our State Capital. They will share the background of the events, as well as pictures and items connected with the solemn occasion.
The meeting is open to everyone without charge. Refreshments will be served.
