Liberty Laid Two Eggs This Week

Liberty, the female of a pair of nesting American bald eagles, produced two eggs this week, in her aerie high above the Mississippi River, in Davenport, IA.  She and her mate, Justice, began their partnership in 2009 and return each year to bear two or three eaglets. 

eagletsThe first egg of the winter season was laid Sunday, February 23, 2014, with the second on Thursday, February 27.  Eggs generally appear one or two days apart; so there may be another over the weekend.   The expected hatching should occur in mid-March.  Since 2010, Liberty and Justice have successfully hatched eight offspring.
