Letter from Volley for the Cure

Dear Editor:

On [Tuesday,] October 1, 2013, the Morrison Fillies Volleyball team faced the Fulton[, IL,] Lady Steamers.  Rather than of team vs. team, the theme was crowd vs. cancer, as it was Volley for the Cure night.  We wish to thank all those who attended and showed their amazing support.  The success of this event would never have been possible without the support of our community and the generosity of our local businesses.

Special thanks go to Colleen Buckwalter, Karla Green and 1-2-3 Tes, LuEllen Lee, Morrison Athletic Boosters, Nancy Pratt and Sherry Verkruysse, Shirley Nelson, Happy Joe’s, Sullivan’s Foods, and Wilson Greenhouses & Florist for their contributions to the raffle prizes, t-shirts, and dinner.

With their help, we were able to raise over $1000 for the Quad Cities affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation!  This donation will be made in the name of the Morrison and Fulton High School Volleyball teams, as a way to honor and celebrate the heroic fight of our friends against breast cancer.

Pinkfully yours,

Volley for the Cure volunteers
