Dear Editor:
Unfortunately, Morrison has suffered a number of issues with our water supply system. While I am sure none of us who have been directly affected by the troubles is particularly thrilled with what has beset us, we offer our sincerest compliments and appreciation to the Director of Public Works and his staff, with the way in which they have dealt with the situation.
When the main that fed our home failed, we, of course, notified Mr. [Gary] Tresenriter. He was altogether courteous, empathetic, and informative. The emergency response by his staff (particularly Pete Swearingen and Kendra Kophamer) was quick and expertly handled. Thereafter, his hard-working personnel attacked the underlying problem beneath the street and, before long, had it resolved.
Of course, as noted, we were not happy about what occurred, but we also know that the issues presented do not lie at the feet of the present administration. Decades of reticence to issue bonds and spend the funds necessary to keep our infrastructure in good repair and upgrade it preceded those good people now charged with the duty to operate a deteriorated system.
There can be nothing more frustrating for anyone than to have to deal with problems not of his or her own making, but Gary Tresenriter and his department have handled the present circumstances with incredible skill, professionalism, and even compassion.
We give kudos, a hearty “thank you,” and even a salute to the entire Morrison Department of Public Works.
Kind regards,
Tim and Ann Slavin
