Lawrence E. “Larry” Barr, 91, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Friday, February 26, 2016, at Resthave Home.
Larry was born October 1, 1924, in Bemet, IL, to Asa Eugene and Julie (James) Barr. He was educated in the rural Hammond, IL, grade schools and was a graduate of Hammond High School. He married Clara “Cookie” Houzenga on July 5, 1949, in Fulton. She died January 20, 2002. Larry was employed by Bunge Grain Terminal in Albany, IL, for several years. He was a former member of Fulton Presbyterian Church and a current member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison. He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour novels.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Smith of Clinton, IA; one son, Richard “Rick” Barr of Morrison; three grandchildren, Brad (Araceli) Whistler, David (Kirsten) Basco, Shannon (Erik Dannett) Smith; three great-grandchildren, Benton Meggenberg, Claire Smith-Dannatt, and Santiago Whistler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; one daughter, Rita Whistler; three sisters, Virginia Long, Betty Miller, and Joanne Remrey; three brothers, Bill Barr, Glenn Barr, and Charles Barr.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Dr. Michael Selburg, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church

INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL
