Larry Louis Holldorf, Sr., 79, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Iowa City VA Health System, Iowa City, IA.
Larry was born July 13, 1939, in Griswold, IA, the son of Delbert and Elsie (Bannick) Holldorf. He served his Country honorably in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Bonnie Lynn Dean on April 18, 1970, in Moline, IL. Larry worked in various places including John Deere Harvester, as security for Cordova Nuclear Power Plant, truck driver for FS in Erie, IL, and worked as a mechanic for Scenic Stage Lines, Morrison..
Larry was an avid horse rider. He was a member of the Mounted Patrol and did barrel racing in rodeos. In his younger days, he enjoyed racing his ’57 Chevy in Cordova, IL. He was a Chevy man, jack-of-all-trades, and lover of collecting things to help him fix things. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
Larry is survived by his wife Bonnie, Morrison; children, Lance (Jodie) Holldorf, Prophetstown, IL, Melinda Wisocki (Bob Wight), Rockford, IL, Larry L., Jr. (Jennifer) Holldorf, Erie; brothers, Lloyd Holldorf, Sterling, IL, and Darwin (Chris) Holldorf, Arizona; sisters, Kay (Leonard) Byington, Lyndon, IL, and Janice Hamilton, Arizona; grandchildren, Belinda Wisocki, Tyler, Parker, and Kamden Holldorf.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Wesleyan Hall of Erie United Methodist Church, Erie, IL, beginning with Visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by the Service at 6:00.
A dinner will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
