Larry J. Stuart, 79, of Rock Falls, IL, formerly of Clinton, IA, died Monday, August 28, 2023, at Rock Falls Rehabilitation Center in Rock Falls.
Larry was born January 24, 1944, in Morrison, IL, to Marion C. and Geneva J. (Meurs) Stuart. He was educated in the rural Morrison grade schools and was a 1962 graduate of Morrison High School. Larry joined the United States Army in 1962 and served for three years. He was employed at General Electric for 33 years. In his free time, Larry enjoyed canning, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid fan of country music, attending countless concerts and amassing a collection of over 200 concert t-shirts. Larry’s annual tradition included attending Statler Brothers and Oakridge Boys concerts with friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Dawn (Joshua) Downs of Carrollton, KY; son, Frank (Ana) Stuart of Rock Falls; five grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, and Melanne Ashcraft, and Annika and Bradley Stuart; sister, Nelta (David) Roeder of Morrison; brothers, Richard Stuart of Clinton and Joel (Nikki) Stuart of Rapids City, IL; several special friends, Scott (Michelle) Pritchard, Ginger Pritchard, and Brandie Klinker and families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marilyn Vegter and Judy Holesinger; brother, Donald Stuart; nephews and niece, Bradley Holesinger, Steve Vegter, and Brenda Stuart.
His Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. An additional Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, starting at noon.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.)
