Kevin “Kev” Charles Castle, 70, of Dixon, IL, died Thursday June 24, 2021, at Pleasant View Nursing & Rehabilitation, of Morrison, IL.
Kevin was born January 18, 1951, in Amboy, IL, the son of Clarence J. and Anna (Donavon) Castle. He married Sherry Strub December 19, 1970. They were married 17 years, later divorced, but remained good friends. Kevin had a contagious smile, liked music but loved Elvis, and had many cars over the years, even trading his 1965 Mustang in for the latest station wagon. Kevin was a fun father, letting his young kids steer the car as they drove around town. He waved to everyone, especially the Police and truck drivers. He worked in the garden as a kid and had his own garden for many years. Kevin made the best crockpot soups. He was always willing to give friends a helping hand, doing yard work or giving ones a ride.
He worked at Eagles Grocery Store in the CWT program, before graduating from Dixon High School in 1970. Kev went on to work at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Rock Falls, IL, for 13 years, until they closed the plant. He started a lawn mowing service and worked many jobs over the years, including Caretaker at Kreider Services and NICL of Sterling, IL. In later life he was a Greeter at Walmart and Delivered for Pizza Hut before retiring. Kevin enjoyed driving through parks, was always on the go, and traveled to many states FL, UT, NY, and CA. He took a nap every day. He enjoyed being around his family and friends, especially Sherry (you never forget your first love.) He was a pet lover, from his horse which he rode to deliver newspapers as a preteen, with his dog, Penny, at his side, to his last furry friend, Riley, he loved them dearly.
Survivors include his children, Jeremy (Cindy) Castle, Shelby Martin, Darcey (Josh) Lewis of Dixon; brothers, Ronald (Rosemary) Castle of Polo, IL, and Danny Mishler of Montana; sister, Karen (James) Miller of Aurora, IL; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Zackary, Jacob, Carmen, Alexander, Levi, Chloe, and Jeremy; great-grandchild, Marie.
