Kenneth Russell Heffelfinger, age 73 of Sterling, IL, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at his home.
Kenneth was born on March 12, 1945, in Chadwick, IL, the son of Charles and Mildred (Queckboerner) Heffelfinger. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the war in Vietnam. Kenneth married Carol Marie DeNeve on June 3, 1967, in Sterling. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2007. He then married Theresa Lease Fay on October 22, 2011, in Sterling. Ken enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities and watching movies with them. He was a member of the Sterling American Legion Post 296.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa; his mother, Mildred Heffelfinger-Kaul of Morrison, IL; three sons, Tim (Amy) Heffelfinger, Ted (Lynn) Heffelfinger, and Todd (Michelle) Heffelfinger, all of Sterling; one daughter, Tricia (Nick) McNiece of Loves Park, IL; step-son, Zoltan Fay of Chicago, IL; step-daughter, Jennifer Fay of Aurora, CO; ten grandchildren, Ashley, Dillan, Madison (Arthur), Kassidy, Luke, Ryan, Hunter, Kaylee, Chase, and Sadie; great-grandchildren, Brixx and Briar; sister, Nancy (Richard) Janssen of Milledgeville, IL; brother, Ronald (Lori) Heffelfinger of Winnebago. IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his father, Charles; step-father, Clayton Kaul; brother, James Heffelfinger; great-granddaughter, Kambri Lynn Folkers.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 10, 2019, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL, with the Rosary recited at 2:30 p.m.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sterling, IL, with the Reverend Bruce Ludeke, Celebrant, officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
