Kenneth E. Wiersema, 81, of Fulton, IL, died Friday, August 30, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA.
Kenneth was born June 12, 1932, in Fulton and was the son of John H. “Jack” and Katherine (Haan) Wiersema. He married Sandra Morgan, January 22, 1960, in Fulton. He was a member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton. He served in the U. S. Navy on the U. S. S. Hector during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Navy he worked for his brother, Tom, at B. L. S. Service in Fulton. In 1966 he was employed by G. E. of Morrison, IL, for 24 years, until his retirement in 1990. Kenneth was a 55-year member of the Fulton American Legion, Post #402. He enjoyed and loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include five sons, Dale (Beth) Wiersema of Fulton, William Wiersema of Fulton, Michael (Sheila) Wiersema of Morrison, IL, Kevin (Kristine) Wiersema, of Fulton, and Kenyon “Hump” (Edith) Wiersema of Fulton; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; three sisters, Delores (Don) Goodridge of Arizona, Katherine (Leon) Groh of Fulton, and Patsy (Gary) Bechtel of Morrison; two brothers, Vernon (Donna) Wiersema of Houston, TX, and Steven (Gloria) Wiersema of Colorado Springs, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Edwin, John, Henry, Donald, and Thomas Wiersema.
It was Kenneth’s wish that no visitation or funeral service be held and that cremation rites be accorded.
