April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The carefree pinwheel is the National symbol for child abuse prevention and child abuse survivors.
Each spring, April House Children’s Advocacy Center, 501 N. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, invites supporters to sponsor a pinwheel with a $5 donation. However, during 2021, due to COVID-19 concerns, no pinwheels will be planted outside the building.
April House is the only agency of its kind in Whiteside County. The Center works closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. They investigate, coordinate, and provide resources, in cases involving
- child sexual abuse
- severe child physical abuse
- sexual exploitation
- child pornography
- neglect
- exposure to violence.
