Kay F. Kobbeman (1946 – 2019)

kay kobbemanKay F. Kobbeman, 73 of Rock Falls, IL, passed away peacefully after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on January 10, 1946, in Wyatt, MO, the daughter of Ponder and Rue Kissee (Romano) Walling.  Kay put herself through Nursing School to become an LPN, having finished first in her class.  She married Martin P. Kobbeman on October 18, 1997, in Rock Falls.  Kay was very talented and enjoyed making many crafts:  woodworking, porcelain dolls with hand painted details, making 15th-to-17th century fashion doll clothes, and painting numerous pictures.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning, tending to her flower garden, and landscaping.  She helped to build and work on her home.  She also helped her husband with the family business.  Kay repaired and refinished her own furniture and made her own curtains.  She really enjoyed cooking for her entire family and was always ready to prepare some special meal or dessert at their request.  She loved everyone and remained very close to, not only her husband and daughters, but to her brother and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Martin; daughters, Nicole (Kerry) Gibson of Crowley, LA, Amanda Buikema of Sterling, IL, and Elenor Shuey of Morrison, IL; three stepsons; one stepdaughter; six brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law; her sisters, Naomi (Richard) Bubnis of Springfield, IL, Priscilla Landsee of Sterling, Linda Hansen of Rock Falls, and Brinda (Gerald) Winger of Dixon, IL; brother, Jerry (Bettye) Walling of Pacific, MO; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Homer Lee Walling, Robert Lynn Walling, and Roger Dale Walling.

At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral.

Cremation will take place.

Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
