Katie’s creativity and energy will give KR fresh, new ideas and take the wedding decorating business to new heights.” Jakubs, at left, will officially take ownership on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
Kreative Rentals Ltd. is located at 115 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL. It “is a premier rental, decorating, and wedding consulting business,” stated Chamber of Commerce Administrator Corinne Bender. Mirrored displays, sparkling glassware, tablescapes, silk flowers, and elegant linens constantly transform the 1889 building. Since Saturday, September 15, Jakubs has met with 2013 Kreative Rentals clients and worked with current events as a consultant. Owners Kris Muur and Audrey Kooi will be finishing the year with their 2012 clients and staying on as consultants and decorators.
“They’ll still help set up and tear down as needed,” Jakubs added. “I will keep the same suppliers. The weekend staff will set up for weddings; they will stay involved.”
“I won’t make changes right away, but will keep it going with different ideas. I have a different style; I have a lot of different tastes.” She listed vintage, modern, and chic/elegant.
What will Jakubs do on her first day as owner of Kreative Rentals Ltd.? “I’m anxious to play around and realize the different designs that can happen! [I plan] to get crafty [and] make different displays.”
During 2013 there are 14 pre-planned weddings to keep her creatively busy. In January and February, she will attend area Bridal Fairs, from Sauk Valley College in Dixon, IL, to the Vista Grande in Clinton, IA.
“I’ve always been creative and didn’t have an outlet. I have been helping with friends’ weddings since 2009.” Owning a wedding business has been a dream of Katie’s since she planned her own wedding.
Katie Hunter Jakubs graduated from Morrison High School and at 18 joined the U. S. Air Force as a Communications Technician. Following her service, she finished her Bachelors in Business Administration in October 2009 and then obtained her MBA, with a concentration in Human Resources.
She relocated this summer from Germany to Morrison. Katie shares her craft talents on her blog Little Becky Homecky.
Kate is married to Ryan Jakubs, a military contractor stationed in Germany. They have a six-year-old daughter, Mikadyn, who is enjoying first grade at Northside School. “I’ve got a lot of family [in the area]: Bruce (Beav) and Kim Hunter, Marcia Hunter, and Jamie (Jason) Huggins.”
