kathelyn vander vinneKathelyn D. Vander Vinne, 93, of Erie, IL, formerly of Morrison, IL, died Monday, October 21, 2019, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.

Kathelyn was born January 11, 1926, in Fulton, IL, to George R. and Dorcas H. (Hook) Foster.  She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools.  On November 9, 1950, she married Paul Vander Vinne in Fulton.  He died on July 21, 2003.  Kathelyn was first employed by the Martin Hotel in Fulton.  She then worked at the Rich Toy Company and the Clinton Garment Company, both in Clinton, IA.  She then farmed alongside her husband Paul in the rural Morrison area.  Later she went to work for General Electric Company in Morrison, retiring in 1986 after 24 years.  She was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton.  Kathelyn enjoyed collecting dolls and books.  She was an avid reader; other than the Bible, her favorite author was Karen Kingsbury.

Survivors include daughters, Paulette (Frank) Walston of Fulton and Debbie (Thomas) Pratt of Erie; sons, Gerry Vander Vinne and Paul (Pam) Vander Vinne both of Morrison; 11 grandchildren, Justin Walston, Weston (Amanda) Walston, Wayne (Monica) Walston, Travis Pratt, Charla (Shad) Wood, Alexis (Dylan) DeJonge, Mariah (fiancé Stephen Rudnicki) Pratt, Nathan (Kristine) Vander Vinne, Nicholas (Wren) Vander Vinne, Bridget (Mike) Domenighini, and Amanda (Nick) May; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Dellamae Smith of Fulton, Julie (Les) Dornbush of Fulton, and Gayla LaFleur of Des Moines, IA; brother, Irvin Foster of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul.

Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.

Memorials to First Reformed Church in Fulton and Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling have been established.
