KarlaBurnResthave Retirement and Nursing Home, 408 Maple Avenue, Morrison, IL, proudly announces the appointment of Karla Burn as Marketing Director.  Both residents and the community will recognize Burn, as she has been Social Services Director for many years.

Karla said, “[I am] excited for the change and want the community to be aware of Resthave and all it has to offer.”

Her new job will consist of updating the website; creation of pamphlets, flyers, and news articles; admissions; communicating with doctors about Resthave; working with family and residents.  She is also hoping to improve community involvement with Resthave, such as having Cub Scouts, Kiwanis, or others meet at Resthave.  This would help the residents feel more a part of their community.

She hopes to bring people into the home and make the experience as pleasant as possible.  “If I can help take the ‘edge off’ the family’s and resident’s nerves and apprehension, then I feel I have helped,” said Burn.

Born in Clinton, IA, she has lived in Morrison since 1987.  She is married to Ken Burn who is Director of Court Services in Oregon, IL.  They have three children:  Trevan, a student at Northern Illinois University, majoring in physical therapy; Morgan, a senior at Monmouth College, majoring in Elementary Education; Kollin, a student at Sauk Valley College, working for his general education hours as he plays baseball.

Burn is pictured in the courtyard of the new nursing wing at Resthave.  This is such a pleasant spot with trees, flowers, bushes, and benches.  The new nursing home will encircle this space, allowing all patients access to this delightful area.

“Working with the elderly in a nursing home environment is hard at times, but we still have fun,” said Karla with a big smile.  It is no wonder the residents love her so much.  “Be sure and call for a tour through the new areas.  I love showing [our] exciting building and programs off!”
