June E. Ufkin, 90, died Wednesday March 15, 2023, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL.
She was born on October 16, 1932, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Fritz and Alma (Stern) Rosenow and was a graduate of Sterling High School. June married Kenneth W. Ufkin on March 8, 1953, in Rock Falls, IL. He died August 31, 2006. She was employed for several years at Dana Corporation in Sterling prior to retiring. She also helped her late husband on the family farm in rural Lyndon, IL, for many years. June was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls and had bowled for many years on the church league. She had enjoyed traveling; playing cards with her friends for many years; playing dominos; working word-search puzzles; watching game shows. She was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Robert) Vegter of Morrison; son, Steve (Kathy) Ufkin of Lyndon; granddaughter, Andrea (Tyler) Hayes; grandson, Jay Ufkin; great-grandbaby, Hayes, to arrive April 7, 2023; step-grandchildren, Rob (Cathleen) Vegter and Kelli (Bryan) Dunn; step-great- grandchildren, Ashely (Tony) VanderLeest, Bryce and Jacob Vegter, Wes, Taylor, Tyler, and Mason Dunn; step-great-great-grandchildren, Bennett and Oaklynn VanderLeest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Beverly Ryan; grandson, Scott Ufkin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, IL.
The Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Bree Truax officiating.
Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL.
