Charges listed below are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
06/02/16 at 5:45 p.m. Whiteside County Deputies were dispatched to Route 40 at Science Ridge Road to investigate a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle driven by a 16-year-old female from Lyndon, IL, was eastbound on Science Ridge Road, when she failed to stop at the intersection and drove into the path of a northbound motorcycle, driven by James L. Hans, 51, of Sterling, IL. Hans was transported from the scene by CGH EMS to CGH Medical Center for his injuries. The 16-year-old female and her passenger were treated on scene and released to their parents. The 16-year-old female driver was cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign. Deputies were assisted by Sterling Fire, Sterling Police, and CGH EMS.
