07-19-13 at 2:40 p.m. The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a ten-year-old autistic child who took off into a corn field near a rural Sterling, IL, residence. A search for the boy ensued with the teamwork of Sterling Fire, Rock Falls Fire, CGH EMS, Sterling Police, Illinois State Police, and MEDFORCE Helicopter. At around 4:00 p.m. the boy was located, and he was transported to CGH Medical Center for treatment and/or observation.
