July 16 Sheriff’s Office Report and Fatality

These arrests are merely a charge, and he/she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

7-13-18 at 11:00 p.m.  Amy A. Dawson, age 42 of Dixon, IL, was stopped for improper lane usage on Dixon Avenue near McNeil Road, Rock Falls, IL.  She was cited for No Valid Driver’s License and released from the scene on bond.

7-14-18 at 2:11 a.m.  A 17-year old female from Prophetstown, IL, was stopped for Failure to Dim Headlights on U. S. Route 30, near Galt Road, Sterling, IL.  She was cited for No Valid Driver’s License-Graduated License Curfew Violation and released on bond.

7-14-18 at 2:37 a.m.  Richard S. Newman, age 22 of Coleta,IL,  was stopped on IL Route 40 near Ridge road for speeding and defective exhaust.  He was cited for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and released on bond, with a written warning for the other offenses.

7-14-18 at 8:21 p.m.  Michael W. Bennett, age 32 of Sterling, IL, was stopped on Dixon Avenue and Avenue C, Rock Falls, IL, for Improper Display of Registration.  He was ultimately arrested on an outstanding Bureau County Warrant for Failure to Appear-Drug Paraphernalia.  Bennett posted the required bond and was released, pending the future court appearance.  Rock Falls Police Assisted on scene.

7-15-18 at 1:53 a.m.  Lena R. Wilson, age 37 of Lyndon, IL,  was stopped in Lyndon for Suspended Registration-Financial Responsibility.  She was ultimately arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Hypodermic Needle, Unlawful Possession of Contraband in a Penal Institute, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle-Suspended Registration.  Wilson was remanded to the Whiteside County Jail on the felony charges.  Illinois State Police and Hunter’s Towing assisted on scene.

7-15-18 at 6:05 p.m.  Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a motorcycle crash on IL Route 40 north of Pilgrim Road.  A motorcycle operated by Jeffery A. Burgess, age 45 of Rock Falls, IL, was southbound, when he lost control of his motorcycle, went onto the west gravel shoulder of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and was ejected from the motorcycle.  He was not wearing a helmet.  Jeffery was pronounced deceased at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL, and this crash remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.  Deputies were assisted on scene by Milledgeville Fire and EMS, Illinois State Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and Slim-n-Hank’’s Towing.
