Joan D. Loy (1953 – 2017)

>Joan D. Loy, 63, of Sterling, IL, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in her home with several of her sisters around her.

Joan was born on September 25, 1953, in Sterling, the 11th child in a list belonging to her loving parents, Gorden and Maxine (Brockman) Loy.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, with Christmas and birthdays and her favorite times to celebrate her love for those around her.  She was constantly putting the needs of others before herself.  She loved caring for her cats, even the strays.  Though she was employed in several positions, she retired after working for 24 years at the Jack Mabley Center in Dixon, IL, as a technician.

Joan is survived by several siblings, including a brother Wayne (Cathy Pettinger) Loy of Satsuma, FL; seven sisters, Jesse Fisher of Sterling, Sue Grebler of Springfield, IL, Pat Bright of Morrison, IL, Tina Johnson of Springfield, Rosa Lee (Matt) Webb of Sterling, Mary (Bob) Dixon of Rock Falls, IL, and Sandra Dixon of Rock Falls.  She also leaves behind a large group of very special nieces and nephews, wonderful friends, and many neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Scott; four brothers, Donald, Gordy, Richard, and Alex Loy.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, IL./p>

A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Jason Borton, officiating.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory.
