Jessie Dykema, 94, of Pleasant View Home, 500 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the home.
Jessie was born October 15, 1922, in Garden Plain, IL, to Joe G. and Minnie (Jarsema) Ottens. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. She married Preston J. Dykema on May 23, 1941, in Morrison. He died May 16, 1997. She was a private housekeeper for others, and also farmed, along with her husband, in the rural Morrison and Prophetstown, IL, areas, until 1962. Then they moved to the Unionville area of Morrison and into Morrison in 1982. She has resided at Pleasant View Home since 1988. Jessie was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church’s Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed talking to family and friends.
Survivors include three sisters, Luella Buis of Morrison, Della Mae Deelsnyder of Fulton, IL, and Betty (Donald) Matthews of Indio, CA; one brother, Harvey Ottens of Morrison; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Preston; three sisters, Katherine Bielema, Pauline Ottens, and Johanna Vegter; three brothers, David, Gerald, and LaVerne Ottens.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
VISITATION: 12:30 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016, until the time of the service, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
OFFICIATING: Rev. Gerald H. Norman, Pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
