Jerrold E. Schroeder, 63, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at his home.
Jerrold was born October 1, 1950, in Morrison to Edwin C. and Harriett M. (Bielema) Schroeder. He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Morrison High School. He then attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. Jerrold served in the U. S. Army as a machine gunner in the 1st Cavalry during the Vietnam War. Prior to enlisting in the Armed Forces, Jerrold was employed at General Electric in Morrison. He was a member of the Morrison American Legion Post #328, the Morrison VFW Post #8281, and The Military Order of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed gardening, canning, and fishing. He loved to listen to sports and The Price is Right.
Survivors include two sisters, Leah (Gary) Gerhard of Midland, TX, and Mrs. Colleen Skarin of Albany, IL; two brothers, Stephan (Nancy) Schroeder of Mandan, ND, and Harlan (Pam) Schroeder of Morrison; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Matthew Gerhard, and one brother-in-law, Aldy Skarin.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
