There is no charge. Workshops are open to all ages. Students may find them especially helpful.
The workshops–presented by Wolf and Linnea Koch of Sterling, IL,–are designed to increase our mastery of available tools, to capture our vision of the world around us. Wolf Koch is a practicing Engineer, former part-time Educator, and occasional Photographer. Linnea is an Artist who has worked in the visual arts field for over 40 years. Both have been using cameras since their teens, have been recognized in various competitions, and have published photos.
“See with an Artist’s Eye” covers art, expression, and the essential aspects of digital photography. The first part develops a basic understanding of what is necessary to understand the limits of your equipment. Part 2 emphasizes how to express your vision, through tools like selective focus, depth-of-field, shutter speed, etc.
“Taking Great Travel Photos” reviews the variables that affect the photographic process and how to control them. Suggestions on cameras and other lightweight equipment suitable for travel will be given. Part 2 will take you on a journey of how to select unusual images and avoid common stereotypes, via real examples covering landscapes, cityscapes, wildlife, and floras. It will emphasize how to express a vision through composition, light, selective focus, depth-of-field, and shutter speed. The simple techniques presented will help you return from travels with wonderful mementos to share.
