January 5 Honeybee Management Session VII

beesIt is time for another beekeeping management session at Andresen Nature Center, 409 N. 4th Street in Fulton, IL, adjacent to Heritage Canyon.  The session will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020, beginning at 1:00 p.m.  It will be led by Mike Kramer, one of our local beekeepers and the consultant for the Nature Center’s observation beehive.

As in the previous sessions, these series of meetings are tailored towards

  • newer beekeepers with perhaps a few years’ experience
  • those who may be struggling to keep their colonies alive year round
  • individuals interested in starting their own apiaries.

However, beekeepers with extensive experience are also welcome to attend and to share their experiences, observations, and opinions.

Topics for this session will include:

  • Winter Monitoring Strategies
  • Spring Planning
  • Ordering Equipment and/or Bees
  • Preparing Old Equipment:  Bodies, Frames, and Comb
  • Latest Findings in Comb Health and Rotation
  • ANC Year in Review, Observation Hive Issues, Analyses
  • Open Discussions/Q & A Session.
