The following preliminary information is being released by Illinois State Police, District One, Sterling, IL.
On Saturday, January 20, 2018, at approximately 12:33 p.m., the Illinois State Police responded to a report of a small aircraft which either landed or crashed in the Rock River, near Grand Detour, IL. The plane was occupied by the pilot and one passenger, who were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The F.A.A. has been notified for further assistance, and the incident remains under investigation.
The update states the occupants were David R. Manske, 50, of Machesney Park, IL, and Jamie K. Nadowski, female, 60, Machesney Park. Power lines were struck, but only one residence is believed to have lost power. The aircraft came to rest on the ice of the Rock River. Two occupants are being treated at area hospitals. The aircraft has been recovered and transported and will be stored, pending a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigation
Various State, County, local and Federal agencies were involved. No additional information is being released at this time.
