Janna (Vogel) DeVries-Lennon, 99, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Resthave.
Janna was born June 26, 1917, in York Township, IL, to Klaus and Celia (VanDyke) Vogel. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1935 graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison. She first married Andrew DeVries, who died in April 1945. She later married David C. Lennon on January 12, 1952, in Davenport, IA. He died February 13, 1990. Janna was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church and the church’s Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of the Morrison Hospital Auxiliary, Resthave Auxiliary, Morrison Historical Society, Morrison Country Club, Whiteside County Republican Women, and Green Hills Council of the Girl Scouts.
Survivors include six daughters, Jane Haan of Morrison; Susan Bond of Denver, CO; Nan Martina of Las Vegas, NV; Martha (Jon) Kophamer of Morrison; Mary Heffernan of Palatine, IL; Foreign Exchange Student, Sirkka-Lisa Rautioaho of Helsinki, Finland; one son, Jim (fiancée, Linda DeLaCruz) DeVries of Silvis, IL; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Tervelt of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Andrew DeVries and David C. Lennon; two sisters, Gertrude Vander Bleek and Cora Maring; one brother, James Vogel.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Gerald H. Norman, Pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church
IN LIEU OF VISITATION: There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 (More details will follow later.)
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
