Janie Vogel, 71, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison.
Janie was born April 3, 1943, in Charleston, WV, to Chester and Julia (Shea) Platt. She graduated from Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek, MI. After high school, Janie attended the Sterling School of Beauty. Janie married Thomas L. Vogel on September 29, 196, in Morrison. Janie worked at Climco Coils in Morrison and Vend-O-Mack Sales also in Morrison. She was an Avon Representative and was in sales for WZZT Radio. For the last 15 years, Janie was a beautician. She enjoyed gambling, slot-machines, listening to music, and dancing.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; two sons, Bryan Vogel of Morrison, and Terry (Dawn) Vogel of Morrison, IL; one granddaughter, Gracie Vogel; two brothers, Jim (Judy) Platt of Cedar Rapids, IA and Dick (Vernice) Platt of Geneseo, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chet Platt; her mother, Julia Platt, and her stepmother, Birdie Platt; one grandson in infancy, David Jay Edward Vogel.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor at Morrison United Methodist Church, Morrison, IL
MEMORIAL VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial has been established by the family.
