James Edward Robbins (1948 – 2019)

jim robbinsjin robbins2James “Jim, Jr.” Edward Robbins, 70 of Sapulpa, OK, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at his home from natural causes, after a four-year battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Rock Falls, IL, on December 22, 1948, to James and Beverly (Jones) Robbins.  He was educated in the Rock Falls school system and graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1968.  He was selected for All-State Football Honors his Senior year.  After high school, he began construction work and was a general contractor for most of his adult life.  Jim was also employed by Morrison School District #6 in maintenance for 12 years.  He moved to Colorado in 1996 ,where he enjoyed team pinning and cattle drives in the mountains.  He moved to Oklahoma in 2008, where he was employed by the Kiefer and Glenpool Post Offices until his death.

Jim married Jeanne Drolema of Morrison, IL, in 1970.  They were blessed with three children: Josh, Joe, and Joslyn.   In 1993 he married Lois Huling of Morrison and became the stepdad to Nakiea Smith.

Jim loved entertaining, whether playing his guitar and singing in the band or telling jokes.  He always had a funny story to tell you or a useless fact.  He loved being outdoors, riding horses, hunting, coaching baseball, feeding birds, camping, and playing golf.  He very much enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Lois Robbins (Huling); children, Josh (Stephanie) Robbins of Sterling, IL, Nakiea (Mike) Strecker of Kiefer, OK, Joe (Amy) Robbins of Morrison, and Joslyn (David) Kailey of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Grant, Diana, Jayden, Grace, Addison, Noah, Emma, and Ava.  He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Keel and Linda Robbins/Underwood.  He had numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Douglas Robbins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Triple P’s in Rock Falls, IL, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.  All family and friends are invited.
