James D. Lewis, Sr., (J. D.) AKA “Stoney,” 77, of Rock Falls, IL, died at his home on October 29, 2019.
He was born in Junction City, AR, at the #4 Saw Mill to Dovie and Dessie (Cullins) Lewis. J.D. married Carole Hayden, October 2, 1961, in Magnolia, AR. He was employed and retired from Northwestern Steel and Wire as a millwright. He also travelled with his wife’s family’s carnival (Rock River Rides.) J. D. enjoyed his years of coon hunting, snowmobiling, trips to Las Vegas, NV, watching his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities, and spending time on his island with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carole; son, James D. Lewis, Jr. of Morrison, IL; daughter, Debora L. (Jerimiah) Johnson of Rock Falls; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Levi (Ashley Kophammer) Lewis and sons Jase, Wyatt, and Lane of Morrison, Lacy (Robert Hudson) and daughter Cadance and a baby boy, due in February, of Lyndon, IL, Leather Lewis and daughter Ellianna of Morrison, Dustin (Sarah Moore) Dahlstrom and daughter Eva and baby boy, due in May, Nathan (Lee Murrin) Dahlstrom and daughter Emmie, Jaden Higley and daughters Karrington and Aleena all of Dixon, IL, Tyler Johnson and son Jonah, and Alex Johnson all of Rock Falls.He leaves brothers, Ruban (Connie) Lewis of Haynesville, LA, and Billy Ray (Liz) Lewis of Hope, AR; brother-in-law, Connie (Valerie) Hayden; sister-in-law, Barbara Lamb of Rock Falls; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dovie and Dessie (Cullins) Lewis; brothers, Marshall and Earsel (Joyce) Lewis; sister, Clairiece (Larry) Wright; three siblings during infancy; brother-in-law, Wayne Lamb; in laws, Leroy and Grace Hayden.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
In his honor, we will have a Celebration of Life for family and friends at Froggy’s Bar & Grill, 215 W. Second Street, Rock Falls, IL, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Please join us. Thank you, from his loving family.
