James “Bob” R. Zigler, 88 of Hooppole, IL, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Bob was born June 23, 1926, in Sterling, the son of Russell and Nellie (Coats) Zigler. He married Marilyn Brants on June 6, 1950. She preceded him in death April of 1998. Bob worked at the former Frantz Manufacturing in Sterling for over 45 years. Following his retirement he worked at Sterling Grummert’s Hardware for over 20 years. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. Bob served as Santa for many years throughout the area.
Survivors include his daughter Donna Gray of Morrison, five sons Darrell (Jean) Zigler of Ladd, David (Debbie) Zigler of Morrison, Steven (Brenda) Zigler of Tampico, Dwayne (Tammy) Zigler of Sterling, and Brian (Tanya) Zigler of Morrison, two sisters: Kay Thayer of Sterling, and Phyllis Powers of Sterling, two brothers: Merle (Barney) Zigler of Marion, MI, and Mike (Beverly) Zigler of Sterling; and his sister-in-law Betty Zigler of Sterling; twenty grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother Norv, one sister Beverly Longancker, and one son-in-law Don Gray.
Visitation will be Friday March 13, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, Rock Falls, IL.
The funeral will follow on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Danny Wright, Pastor of Hooppole United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial with military rites will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
