The official General Election Day on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, fast approaches. In advance of that day, across the United States registered Early and Absentee voters have been making their political preferences known. Those who have not returned these ballots, are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
One reason is that your name will be removed from the “eligible voter” rolls. This is more efficient for political party volunteers. They will not contact you to remind you to vote. Early voters can feel the pride of being a good citizen over the next several days.
Teens, are you now old enough to vote? Did you register at school? If not, you may register at the Courthouse and vote immediately. Bring a photo identification.
Have you changed your name or political party affiliation?
Have you moved into Illinois or Whiteside County since voting the last time?
Do you have a new residence within the County?
Instructions to amend your status can be found at www.vote.gov. Do so online, by phone, or via email.
Voters who missed the deadline to register or transfer their registration, may cast “grace period” ballots at the office of the County Clerk. Her office is on the ground floor of the Whiteside County Courthouse, 200 E. Knox Street, Morrison, IL. An elevator is available.
