Isaac “Ike” Temple, 94, of Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community, in Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA.
Ike was born March 28, 1926, in Garden Plain, IL, to Dewey E. and Helen (Blink) Temple. He was educated in the Fulton, IL, school system. During WWII Ike served in the U. S. Army as an Automotive Equipment Mechanic stationed at Okinawa. On December 18, 1948, he married Mary Ann Norman in Detroit, MI. She died December 28, 2019. Ike started farming in the Fulton area; in 1976 he purchased and began his own farm. Later in his life he worked at Drives in Fulton for a few years. Ike was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton. He enjoyed tinkering and woodworkinG and liked to keep busy by engineering new things. He also liked gardening, making jelly, and cracking gallons of black walnuts.
Survivors include daughter, Lora (Steve) Janak of Woodruff, WI; sons, Steve (Lori) Temple of Rock Falls, IL, and Scott (Renee) Temple of Morrison; seven grandchildren, David Janak, Peter (Caroline) Janak, Wayne (Stacy) Temple, Anne (Chris) Mills, Kristin (Jeff) Huisenga, Justin Temple, and Adam (Quinn) Temple; 13 great-grandchildren, Jett, Gage, Nicholas, Samuel, Amelia, Jacob, Benjamin, Lucas, Sarah, Owen, Adalinn, Harrison, and Grant; sisters, Dolores (Kenneth) Fritz of Morrison and Helena Brockett of Aledo, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann; sister, Gertrude Voss; brothers, Alfred, Allen, Eugene, and Raymond Temple.
A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at the Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. Ken Renkes will officiate.
The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A memorial has been established to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
