Irvin R. Prins, 83, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home.
Irv was born May 5, 1940, in Morrison, to John A. and Helen (Van Zuiden) Prins. He was educated in Greene School in Lyndon, IL, and graduated Lyndon High School in 1958. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965, stationed in Munich and Berlin, Germany. Irv married Barbara F. Tenboer on October 1, 1965, in Morrison. He initially worked on the farm until 1962 and later dedicated 45 years of his career to Climco Coils in Morrison, from 1962 to 2007. Following his retirement, he drove for R. C. Smith Transportation and worked for the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Homes. Irv was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church of Morrison; he served as an Elder and Deacon and actively participated in the Praise team and Men’s Society. He found joy in sports, particularly cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, and enjoyed card games with friends and family. Irv cherished moments spent fishing, especially with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Barb; daughter, Melissa (John) Benson of Little Chute, WI; son, Steve Prins of Waco, NE; three grandchildren, Makayla (Isaac) Wiegand, Dayne Benson Smith, and Madilyn Benson Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorcas Cole; brothers, Kenneth Prins, Arnold Prins, and Elmer Prins.
His Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Homes, with Pastor Jon Eastlick, of Crossroads Community Church in Morrison, IL, officiating.
A Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at noon, until the time of the funeral.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
