irene beswickIrene Elizabeth Beswick, 83, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, December 28, 2015, at Resthave Home in Morrison.

Irene was born August 29, 1932, in Morrison, to Frank and Stella (Marschang) Bartz. She was educated in the Gridley School of rural Whiteside County and Lanark Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. Irene married Herbert Eugene Beswick on September 30, 1950, in Morrison. He died April 12, 2011. She was employed by the former National Tea Grocery Store and Volckmann’s Furniture Factory, both of Morrison. Most recently, she worked at General Electric in Morrison until retirement. Irene was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Morrison and the church’s Altar and Rosary Society. She was a current member of Morrison United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Irene was a volunteer for the Hospice of the Rock River Valley. She enjoyed square dancing, motorcycling, scrapbooking, and rummage sales and was an avid cat lover.

Survivors include two daughters, Marian Kennedy of Milwaukee, WI, and Susan (Don) Mahoney of Morrison; one son, Tom (Dawn) Beswick of Morrison; seven grandchildren, Patina (Nick) Eversum, Bart (Sarah) Pope, Neal (Sarah) Mahoney, Donna (Zeb VanKooten) Mahoney, Evan Mahoney, Marcy (James) Shank, and Renee (Tony) Garcia; five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Demery Haan, Joseph Shank; Ayden and Aly Mahoney; two sisters, Helen (Adam) Yoeckel and Grace (Dick) Beswick both of Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; one son, Danny Beswick; one son-in-law, Oliver Kennedy; one brother, Francis Bartz.

MEMORIAL SERVICE:  10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Morrison United Methodist Church, Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor of Morrison United Methodist Church

VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

Cremation rites will be accorded.

INTERMENT OF CREMAINS:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL, at a later date
