Ikey “Bill” Engelkens, 86, of Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL, died Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Center.
Bill was born March 15, 1927, in Round Grove, IL, to Ikey and Sarah J. (Peoples) Engelkens. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Bill married Mary I. Frank on August 8, 1944, in Morrison. He was employed as an over-the-road truck driver for various local trucking companies, retiring in 1998 after 55 years of driving. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Morrison. He enjoyed doing scratch-off lottery tickets and jigsaw puzzles. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Morrison; two daughters, Joyce (Ernie) Lilly and Marlene (William) Johnson both of Fulton, IL; three sons, Robert (Susan) Engelkens and Donald (Karen) Engelkens both of Fulton, and Paul (Cathy Reinders) Engelkens of Fenton, IL; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Dollinger and Carrie Schilling; two brothers, John and Edd Engelkens.
