The IHSA State Football Championship Brackets were announced on Saturday night, October 20, 2012. Several area teams were successful in making the playoffs, and the Morrison Mustangs were one of the assigned, with a record of 6-3. The Mustangs will travel to Aledo, IL, to play the currently ranked number one team in class 2A–Mercer County Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles were crowned as Lincoln trail conference Champs after defeating Annawan-Wethersfield 27-0 Friday night.
