How to Run For Morrison Board of Education

On Friday, November 13, 2020, Morrison School District Superintendent Scott Vance issued an Election Notice, citing procedures for becoming a candidate for the position of School Board member.  “The Morrison Community Unit School District #6 will have four, four-year seats up for election, during the April 2021 election.  Terms will run from April 2021 through August 2025.

“Listed below are the potential seats per Township.”

  • Clyde–2
  • Fenton–3
  • Genesee–3
  • Hopkins–3
  • Mt. Pleasant–1
  • Union Grove–2.

Interested persons must be, on the date of the election, a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years of age; a registered voter; a resident of the State of Illinois and Morrison Community Unit School District #6 for at least one year immediately preceding the election.

To be placed on the ballot, candidates must submit a petition signed by at least 50 qualified voters or 10% of the voters (whichever is less) residing within the District.  Petitions may be picked up in the County Clerk’s Office and filed with the Clerk between December 14 and 21.
