Hospice of the Rock River Valley (HRRV) is pleased to announce the addition of Sheila Smith to the hospice team. Sheila will be working on the clinical team as a Registered nurse.
Smith will be responsible for direct patient care, by collaborating with other team members and physicians to provide the best care possible.
Prior to joining Hospice of the Rock River Valley, Smith spent time working in long-term care and rehabilitative nursing, most recently at Dixon Healthcare.
Of her new position, Smith said, “While still in school, I was able to care for my sister who was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. I knew then that hospice was my ultimate goal. I hope to be able to guide families and their loved ones through the process of end-of-life struggles. My goal is to ensure my patients are well cared for and kept as comfortable as possible through their journey,” Smith said.
She comes from a large family, where she was one of 11 children. Smith and her husband have six grown children and six grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys camping, boating, amateur photography, and gardening.
